Erectile dysfunction is when you keep finding it hard to get or keep an erection firm enough for satisfying sex. In a 2023 national survey by the Japan Society for Sexual Medicine, about 3 in 10 Japanese men aged 20–79 had it (30.9%).

- 2With EDToo little, or too soonToo little blood flows in, or it flows back out too soon. The causes can be physical, psychological or lifestyle, and often more than one.
- 3PDE5Most ED medicines block itAn enzyme called PDE5 plays a part, which is why most ED medicines work by blocking it. They only work when you’re aroused.
